Singapore Family Pledge Movement

I think very often we take our family members for granted. I mean, we normally spend time with our friends and colleagues more than our family members because we think that they are always there, always available.

This time, after getting my bonus and also to have a mini Mother's Day celebration, I brought my mom to Joo Chiat/Still Road for black pepper crab. I have been there 3 times with my friends and it was the first time with my parents. We ordered 4 black pepper and 2 chilli crabs!

I decided that I should do something nice for my grandma as well. Other than going to my grandma's house for meals, I am going to impress her a little by making a dish for her. Grandma always say that buying bak kua during CNY is too expensive. So I had purposely signed up for a course with Creative Home Baking on how to make bak kua previously. It's homemade and healthy without preservatives :)

I pledge to (1) prepare homemade bak kua for my family on 30 May, Sunday. Because it's the school holidays period, I will gather my cousins to help me and my sister out from the shopping to the marinating to the preparation to the cooking bit.

and (2) propose that we take a family shot together in August (during my mom's birthday). I will put our family photo up in my new house.

I love my family and they will always be in my heart even after I marry.

NATIONAL FAMILY CELEBRATIONS 2010 (NFC 2010)

Organised by the National Family Council, National Family Celebrations is an annual event which celebrates and reinforces the importance of families and family life. This year, Singaporeans are encouraged to make a personal commitment to their families by being a part of the Singapore Family Pledge Movement.

To provide opportunities for Singaporeans to follow through on the pledges to their families, there are a myriad of activities under the NFC 2010 calendar – which will interest the young, the old, and everyone in between! NFC 2010 will be held from 25 May to 26 June 2010, and this year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Celebrations. For more information on NFC 2010, visit www.nfc.sg
